ABOUT JESSICA SMOSNA

Jessica Smosna, RD, LD is our in-office registered dietitian at Austin’s Cardiovascular Associates. Jess received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and completed her Dietetic Internship and clinical rotations through the University of Houston. She received comprehensive training through her rotations at Methodist Hospital, Internal Medicine and Pediatric Associates, Early Childhood Intervention home services, and the Houston Fire Department. Following her internship, Jess worked at Internal Medicine and Pediatric Associates in Houston. She then took time off to travel before returning to Chicago, where she worked in a private practice of dietitians as the Functional Nutrition Specialist. Prior to joining Cardiovascular Associates, Jess was running her own nutrition business here in Austin.

Jess’s mission is to educate and motivate individuals to love their body, become empowered by their food choices, be proud of their lifestyle, and enhance their overall health in order to live their life to the fullest!

Jess uses food-as-medicine to enhance her patients’ health through motivation and education. She brings forth a unique ability to help individuals recognize underlying barriers and develop realistic solutions around them. She has successfully guided patients in reversing Type 2 Diabetes, elevated cholesterol, and high blood pressure; while also supporting clients in eliminating symptoms of IBS, headaches, and pain.

Vitamins N and L – nature and laughter – are her favorite pastimes. Jess is passionate about serving her community; she regularly volunteers and serves a Big with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. She finds great joy and stress-relief in exploring and experimenting with new foods – as well as homemade household, body, and beauty products – and creating recipes to share with patients, family, and friends.
